Backwards Boat Balance

Instructions

Setup

Give each student a small folded piece of paper or card to balance on their head. Make sure there’s enough space for everyone to move safely.

The Challenge

Students line up and, on your cue, start moving backward—just like rowing your boat in reverse! The goal is to keep the paper balanced while moving.

The Twist

If the paper falls off, freeze and carefully place it back on before continuing. Add friendly competition: who can make it to the end first without dropping theirs?

Team Tip

Pair students up or form small groups so they help each other navigate and cheer each other on. It’s all about balance, teamwork, and a good laugh!
